Tour 1: The Family Lives and Cultures of Whales

  • East Coast Outfitters 2017 Lower Prospect Road Lower Prospect, NS, B3T Canada (map)

It’s that time of year again! Seacology 2017 is kicking off the season on June 6th in partnership with Oceans Week HFX.

Our first tour of the year will be held by returning naturalist, Christine Konrad! Christine is a Masters student at Dalhousie University researching the cultural lives and complex societies of marine mammals. Christine will discuss how the family lives of some species of whales, such as sperm whales, are remarkably similar to our own.

Come join us at East Coast Outfitters on June 6th from 5:30pm, tour starts at 6:00pm, to learn about the importance of whales for our marine ecosystems, how human activity on the coast can put them in danger, and what we can do to mitigate these effects.

Take a look at our calendar for daily specials and tour details.
