Trevor is the Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Science and Oceans Protection Plan for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) in Ottawa. In this role he is responsible for providing broad oversight coordination and governance for DFO and Canadian Coast Guard elements of the Government’s $1.5B Oceans Protection Plan. In the Science Sector dimension of his role, he serves as the national leadership focal point for DFO's fisheries, species at risk, habitat and oceans sciences programs and hydrography services. He represents the Department at science related leadership gatherings internationally and domestically and in a host of partnership arrangements across the breadth of the DFO science program.
Over his ten year plus career at DFO, Trevor was the Assistant Deputy Minister, Ecosystems and Fisheries Management Operations, Assistant Deputy Minister, Program Policy and Assistant Deputy Minister, Transformation as well as being the Director General for both the Conservation and Protection Program and the Aquaculture Management Directorate. Prior to joining DFO he spent two years serving as Senior Advisor, Sustainability, at the Forest Products Association of Canada and eighteen years in Environment Canada in posts across Canada primarily with the Canadian Wildlife Service. He holds a Master's in Geography from the University of Ottawa, and a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, and Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia.
